Welcome to the Department of Surgery
SickKids is the largest children’s hospital in Canada, serving a catchment area of five million in the Greater Toronto Area. Toronto is highly diverse and one of the world’s most multicultural cities. The Department of Surgery focuses on the integration of clinical care, teaching, and research and supports the mission and goals of The Hospital for Sick Children.
The Department of Surgery is comprised of six surgical divisions – Cardiovascular Surgery, General and Thoracic Surgery, Neurosurgery, Orthopaedics, Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery and Urology – all involved in and committed to ensuring that children have the best possible experiences and outcomes in their surgical journey.
Staff of the Department of Surgery provide national and international leadership in highly complex and innovative clinical care. The staff lead world class research groups engaged in basic, clinical and health outcomes research. The department is involved in undergraduate and postgraduate education hosting fellows from across the world.
We share the SickKids vision, Healthier Children, a Better WorldTM.
