Airway Reconstruction Team

The Airway Reconstruction Team (ART) at The Hospital for Sick Children (SickKids) is a multi-disciplinary team with a special clinical interest in the diagnosis and treatment of patients with congenital tracheal stenosis (CTS). Given the rarity and complexity of CTS, these patients are best managed by a specialized team with expertise in treating this disorder. ART is comprised of general surgeons, otolaryngologists, cardiovascular surgeons, anesthetists, pediatric intensive care physicians, perfusionists, respirologists and nurse specialists with a special focus in the treatment of CTS.

The purpose of ART is to identify, manage and provide follow-up for CTS patients. In cases where surgical repair is required to treat CTS, we are involved in the pre-operative assessment, operative management and post-operative care of CTS patients. However, not all patients with CTS require surgical treatment and our team is able to identify and follow these patients until their CTS is resolved. In summary, ART provides a specialized, multi-disciplinary approach to the overall care of CTS patients.
