Image Guided Therapy

Image-Guided Therapy (IGT) is a state-of-the-art facility that was specially designed to house the growing interventional radiology service, and to facilitate many other disciplines to work together to perform image-guided treatments. Several procedures can now be performed safely in one place, on the same day, under one anaesthetic often resulting in a shorter hospital stay to the benefit of the patient.

IGT is a division of the Department of Diagnostic Imaging (DI), under the leadership of the Radiologist-in-Chief, Dr. Manohar Shroff and the Director of Diagnostic Imaging and Vascular Access, Ellen Charkot.

IGT is a member of the Centre for Image-Guided Care (CIGC) and is utilized as the main platform for delivering clinical care through this Centre.

Our Goals

To provide an environment that supports and promotes clinical, academic, research and educational excellence through:

    • The provision of minimally invasive procedures using Image-Guided Therapy and a multidisciplinary approach.
    • The reduction of patient discomfort, morbidity, complications and length of hospital stay using minimally invasive procedures.
    •  The promotion and support of research, development and evaluation of new minimally invasive techniques.

Our Mission

To provide optimum patient care through minimally invasive image-guided procedures, using state-of-the- art imaging technology and a multi-disciplinary approach for the benefit of patients, their families, the institution, the community and for research and education.
