Interprofessional education and practice can be described as a collaborative, team-based approach to providing patient care. Key mandates of Ontario’s Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care, these initiatives will create environments where health practitioners work collaboratively to enhance patient care and delivery.
At SickKids we have been working to enhance interprofessional education and practice throughout the Hospital. Partnering with the University of Toronto, SickKids is exploring new educational initiatives to develop interprofessional education opportunities. In addition, SickKids’ education researchers are studying interprofessional collaboration skills in trainees and health care providers, through the Partnered Learning Project, funded by HealthForceOntario.
