Technology allows the delivery of learning and information sharing to happen in a variety of ways and for a variety of audiences, all without the constraints of a classroom. Facilitated by the Learning Institute, the SickKids eLearning program enables SickKids staff by providing opportunities to engage in interactive online learning for professional development and skill enhancement. By integrating adult learning principles with eLearning technologies, the SickKids eLearning program provides a learning experience that is timely, accessible and impactful for staff.

Role in Learning

The SickKids eLearning Program features a decentralized development process which enables users to create their own modules featuring content drawing from their subject matter expertise.  This unique approach allows our Learning Management System, iLearn, to feature a robust, continuously expanding catalogue of learning modules which are available 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

While some eLearning education stands on its own as a program, it is also used in a blended approach to learning by supplementing classroom education.

"The eLearning program continues to explore and introduce best practices in adult learning to encourage learners to explore and learn through timely, effective and engaging content."
