About the Learning Institute
Alongside clinical care and research, learning and education have been long standing core activities at SickKids. The Learning Institute was founded in 2007 to support and enhance education and teaching activities across the organization including the education of students and academic trainees, the continuing professional development for staff, as well as education for children, their families and the community.
Conceived as part of SickKids' strategic directions to strengthen the integration of care, research and education, the vision for the Learning Institute included adopting an interprofessional approach that would bring together educators from all disciplines, create new partnerships and strive to innovate in education.
Through the integration of existing programs such as AboutKidsHealth and the Hospital Library and Archives, as well as the development of new programs and services to support education in eLearning, knowledge translation, simulation, conference management, resuscitation education, evaluation and staff continuing professional development, the Learning Institute strives to advance the education mandate at SickKids, Better Learning. Better Outcomes. Healthier Children. A Better World.
