Learning and education
The Division of Paediatric Emergency Medicine has two fellowship training programs. One program is available for Canadians/landed immigrants with undergraduate medical training in an accredited North American medical school and the second program provides opportunities for specific specialty or subspecialty training in Paediatric Emergency Medicine to those candidates whose medical training was completed outside North America and who hold specialty certification in Paediatrics from their country of training.
In addition to the fellowship programs, we play an active role in the core training of the paediatric residents at SickKids with first- and third-year residents each spending two months in the ED. The division is also responsible for the training of a large number of non-paediatric physicians and medical students. We have a large educational component to the training program with a weekly dedicated half day of interactive teaching sessions.
We have an active clinical research program in the division and are currently expanding the number of clinical investigators who are attached to the division.
