Quality of life needs

The purpose of this research was to understand the quality of life issues faced by children and teenagers with heart problems. We wanted to learn from children and parents about the issues they face, the concerns that they have, and their perspectives on what additional help or research would be beneficial.

The specific research goals were to:

  • Learn how children and teens followed in the Labatt Family Heart Centre feel about their own lives and the help they get at SickKids.
  • Understand the perceptions of parents regarding the issues and supports that are most important to improving their child’s quality of life.
  • Identify opportunities for enhancing patient and parent knowledge through future educational research interventions.

The Cardiovascular Clinical Research Unit is involved in many research projects that are designed to promote active, healthy lifestyles for children and youth. If you would like more information about this project or our other research activities, please contact us.
