Study activities

Families who volunteer for this study will be asked to come to SickKids for two testing sessions. Each testing session will take about two hours. During each session, the child’s movement skills and hand-eye coordination will be measured by having the child try a variety of games and activities using simple toys.

During the first session, parents will also be asked to complete a short questionnaire about their child’s medical history. During the second test session, parents will be interviewed by the researcher about their experiences in the study.

In between the two testing sessions parents will be asked to do specific games and activities with their child on a daily basis. The games and activities will require about 15-20 minutes per day. We will provide the daily activities for 8 to 10 weeks. The activities will be specifically chosen to suit each child’s stage of development.
