Budget Justification

Biostatistics, Design & Analysis (BDA) of the Child Health Evaluative Services Program, Research Institute, The Hospital for Sick Children will oversee the overall data management and statistical analysis for the study. The BDA's mandate is to improve the quality of clinical research at SickKids by providing consultation in study design and methodology, statistical analysis, and data management. It is staffed by two full-time biostatisticians, an epidemiologist, a database manager, and a pool of data entry staff.

Mr. Derek Stephens will be the lead biostatistician for this proposed project from study inception, through to manuscript preparation. Mr. Stephens has been a biostatistician with SickKids since 1992, overseeing the statistical analysis of hundreds of clinical research studies. He is currently a co-investigator on 14 major peer-reviewed grants or industry-funded trials, and has co-authored more than 60 publications in various biomedical journals, as well as in methodological journals such as Statistics in Medicine. He is appointed as a lecturer with the Department of Public Health Sciences Program - Biostatistics at the University of Toronto, where he has also served on many Master's level thesis supervisory committees.


All studies with funding will be billed for the data management or statistical analysis.

Payment is made by internal fund transfers from your cost centre to the BDA. You will be emailed the invoice and transfer form.
