Biostatistics, Design and Analysis

Biostatistics, Design and Analysis

Biostatistics, Design and Analysis (BDA) is a consultation service operated by the Child Health Evaluative Sciences Research Program, Research Institute, The Hospital for Sick Children.

The mandate of the BDA is to improve the quality of clinical research at The Hospital for Sick Children by providing consultation in the areas of study design and methodology, statistical analysis, and data management. We also provide service to basic science researchers.

Study design, statistical analysis, database, and data entry services are provided on a fee-for-service basis.

The BDA also plays a leadership role in the methodological education of clinical investigators. BDA consultants present at Rounds and give workshops on study design and statistical topics (i.e. “How to design a clinical trial”; choice of statistical tests; choosing control groups, etc.) at departmental meetings or in small group sessions. Members of the BDA are also active participants in the weekly Child Health Evaluative Sciences (CHES) rounds, providing feedback and advice to speakers during the informal discussion period.

The BDA is located in the main hospital building at 555 University Avenue, Toronto.
