Developmental & Stem Cell Biology

Head: Dr. Brian Ciruna

Research in the Developmental & Stem Cell Biology program aims to understand the molecular genetic mechanisms underlying embryonic development, tissue homeostasis and regeneration, and to translate their fundamental discoveries into novel strategies for the treatment of developmental disorders like childhood cancer and other congenital diseases. Molecular genetic, genomic, and stem cell studies are conducted across a variety human tissues and model developmental organisms, including the planarian, nematode, Drosophila, zebrafish, and mouse.
