Dr. Lillian Sung has received certification in both paediatric infectious diseases and paediatric haematology/oncology. She completed a PhD in Clinical Epidemiology in the Department of Health Policy, Management and Evaluation, University of Toronto in May 2004. She currently holds two National Cancer Institute of Canada operating grants, a Ministry of Health Early Researcher Award, and a Career Development Award with the Canadian Child Health Clinician Scientist Training Program, a Strategic Training Program of the Canadian Institute of Health Research. Dr. Sung's research area focuses on supportive care for children with cancer and in particular, preventing infectious complications in children with acute myeloid leukemia. Another area of focus is decision-making for healthcare professionals and parents of children with cancer. Her methodological interests include: controlled clinical trials, Bayesian analysis, meta-analysis, decision-analysis, measurement of health-related quality of life, and elicitation of patient preferences.
