MRI Shows Limited Mixing Between Systemic and Pulmonary Circulations in Fetal Transposition of the Great Arteries – A Potential Cause of In Utero Pulmonary Vascular Disease

To investigate the relationship between fetal hemodynamics and postnatal clinical presentation in patients with transposition of the great arteries using phase contrast cardiovascular magnetic resonance.

Annual Meeting – Salt Lake City, UT.  April 2013

  • Dynamic imaging of the fetal heart using Metric Optimized Gating
Program No. 7, Young Investigator Award Finalist
Metric Optimized Gating (MOG) is developed and validated for cine imaging of the fetal heart. Evaluation of the MOG technique is performed by comparing MOG and ECG reconstructions of the same adult volunteer data. Cine MR images of the human fetal heart are presented and the performance of MOG applied to fetal data is evaluated through error analysis. more info
  • Assessment of late-onset fetal growth restriction by phase contrast MR
    Program No. 4129
Redistribution of fetal blood flow in late-onset fetal growth restriction is measured by phase contrast MR showing brain-sparing physiology, and is compared with normal fetal blood flow measured by MR and Doppler ultrasound. more info
  • Brain sparing in fetal mice: using BOLD MRI to study blood redistribution during hypoxia
    Program No. 2326
BOLD MRI contrast and Doppler ultrasound are used to characterize the redistribution of fetal blood flow that occurs in healthy, pregnant mice under hypoxic conditions. more info
  • T2-weighted Fourier velocity encoding: in vivo vascular MR oximetry
    Program No. 1443
MR oximetry based on conventional quantitative T2 measurement is a technique for measuring vascular oxygen saturation noninvasively. The addition of Fourier velocity encoding overcomes these limitations by separating moving blood from static tissue based on velocity. more info
