Research interests

Dr. Margot Taylor’s research centres around the neural bases of cognitive development.  The areas of study include development of frontal lobe functions using protocols adapted for children that include working, emotional expression processing, social cognitive tasks.  The studies use magnetoencephalography (MEG), MRI, DTI and functional MRI and include normative developmental series and clinical populations of children through to adults with autism and children born very preterm.  The research, funded by CIHR, determines the neural bases, where and when in the brain, cognitive skills emerge with typical and atypical development.  Currently funded investigations also include longitudinal MRI studies and neurodevelopmental outcomes in infants born very preterm.
