Research Activities

My research studies focus on the molecular physiology of developing AV node and etiology of congenital heart block, in particular:

  • Ca channel isoforms expressed in AV node in fetus;
  • assessing fetal electrocardiograms to prospectively study fetal dysrhythmias, disorders of myocardial function and structural heart disease;
  • desmosomal protein mutations and the etiology and expression of arryhthmogenic right ventricular dysplasia : Plakophilin mutations result in abnormal expression of other proteins in intercalated disk) by using animal models of congenital heart block.
