Paediatric Sleep Disorders Clinic

The Paediatric Sleep Disorders Clinic is under the Division of Respiratory Medicine. The clinic is dedicated to providing comprehensive evaluation and treatment for a wide range of sleep disorder such as obstructive sleep apnea, nocturnal hypoventilation in neuromuscular and genetic diseases, children in respiratory failure and sleep related behavioral problems in neuro-developmental disorders.

The Sleep Disorders Clinic is scheduled for every Wednesday afternoon; once per month this clinic is multi-disciplinary. It involves a respirologist, psychiatrist, neurologist, and paediatrician who have a special interest in sleep medicine.

The majority of our patients will be evaluated in Sleep Disorders Clinic to determine what the specific problems are. A decision to undertake a polysomnogram (sleep study) is made at this time and this will subsequently be performed at a later date in the sleep laboratory at SickKids. Many of the children will also be reviewed after the sleep study to discuss the results of the study.

If referring from outside SickKids, the referral must be completed by a family physician or paediatrician, sleep clinic referral form. Please include a consult note with your referral and fax it to 416-813-5638.
