The Thrombosis Team: What We Do

Our team is committed to improving the lives of children who have developed or are at risk of developing a blood clot.

Over the past decade, there has been increasing awareness of the importance of thrombotic disorders (i.e., blood clots) in children of all ages, from neonates to teens and young adults. To date, our knowledge on how to diagnose, treat, and prevent blood clots largely derives from medical experience in adult patients. However, children are not little adults and therefore, a proper description on how to care for children with blood clots is imperative. The Thrombosis Service within the Division of Pediatric Hematology/Oncology has historically been at the forefront of care for children with blood clots, and has provided state-of-the-art clinical care and conducted cutting edge research in this area since its foundation in 1991.

The Thrombosis Team at SickKids is working to ensure that your child is provided with the top quality clinical care and support.

If you have any clinical questions our doubts, please do not hesitate to call us at (416) 813-7500, and ask to speak to the Thrombosis Fellow on call. For questions about our research studies, please call us at (416) 813-7654, ext.: 328378 or 309241.
