What we do
Paediatric Urology is an often misunderstood and overlooked field of medicine. Paediatric urologists are, however, the “custodians” of the entire urological and genital systems for both boys and girls; they specialize in surgical problems of the kidneys, the bladder, and the genitalia. More specifically, paediatric urologists provide the following medical services:
- Evaluation and management of voiding (urinary) disorder and urinary tract infections that require surgery,
- Surgical reconstruction of the urinary tract (including kidneys, ureters, and bladder), including genital abnormalities and intersex conditions, and
- Surgery for groin conditions in childhood adolescence.
It is absolutely critical that childhood urological conditions be properly addressed in a timely manner because, if left untreated, they can lead to lifelong urological disorders. Also, treating such conditions early in life can prevent a variety of adult-onset illnesses.
