Clinical practice guidelines

Initiated in 2007, the SickKids Clinical Practice Guidelines (CPG) program uses a clinician driven model with methodological support to develop CPGs related to patient management at The Hospital for Sick Children (SickKids).

Representatives from the Quality and Risk Management department work with guideline development groups to ensure that guidelines are developed using a rigorous systematic process that an active implementation plan is in place, and to develop an evaluation plan to monitor CPG compliance and patient outcomes.

The goal the SickKids CPG Program is to promote high quality, evidence-based CPGs with an emphasis on tools for active implementation to the frontline and ongoing evaluation.
