Intervention Studies

In 2006, we began a roll-out of Empower™ Reading: Grades 2-5, Decoding and Spelling in partnership with six school districts.Now, more than 30 school districts in Ontario, and across Canada have implemented the program, and starting in 2016, the program is being used in India and the New Haven, Connecticut. More than 1400 teachers have been trained and have implemented the program with more than than 20,000 students 

Several of these school boards have conducted independent evaluations of the program’s effectiveness and have reported very promising results. As depicted in the graphs below, Empower™ Reading: Decoding and Spelling, Grade 2-5 module has had a positive effect on students’ literacy development in these community schools. 

The Waterloo Region District School Board evaluated the effectiveness of Empower™ Reading: Decoding and Spelling, Grades 2-5 on 162 struggling readers in their district. Substantial progress in the reading skills of the students (as measured using running record levels) was found as a result of participation in our one-year intervention program.
