"Treatment of childhood nutrition in high-burden settings".(View Event Poster Here)withDr. Susan Shephard, MSF Nutrition Working Group Moderated by:David Morley, President & CEO, Save the Children Canada Speakers BiosDr. Milton Tectonidis is a Quebecer specializing in tropical medicine. He has been working in humanitarian crisis throughout the world since the early 1990s and most recently as nutrition advisor to MSF operations and to the MSF Access to Essential Medicines. Dr. Susan Shephard is a pediatrician and currently the coordinator for the MSF Nutrition Working Group. She worked as a physician for MSF in Maradi during the 2006 nutrition crisis and as a medical advisor to MSF operations. Dr. Stanley Zlotkin is currently a Professor in the Departments of Paediatrics and Nutritional Sciences at the University of Toronto, a senior scientist in the Research Institute of The Hospital for Sick Children, Medical Director of Nutrition Support at The Hospital for Sick Children and Head of the Division of Gastroenterology and Nutrition at the Hospital. As well as being a consultant on nutritional issues to the Canadian Federal and Provincial Government, Stanley is past Chairman of the Nutrition Committee of the Canadian Paediatric Society and past Chair of the Research Ethics Board of the Research Institute of The Hospital for Sick Children. Stanley has active research in Canada (supported by Health Canada and the Centers for Disease Control), Ghana (supported by the Canadian Institutes of Health Research), Mongolia (supported by World Vision and the HJ Heinz Moderator:David Morley is President and Chief Executive Officer of Save the Children Canada. From 1998 to 2005 he was Executive Director of the Canadian section of Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF). He has been a Mentor with the Trudeau Foundation, served on the Board of Directors of the Canadian Council for International Co-operation, as President of the Ontario Council for International Cooperation, and is currently a member of the Board of Directors of the Stephen Lewis Foundation and the Brazilian-based Abrinq Foundation for the Rights of Children. His most recent book, “Healing Our World: Inside Doctors without Borders” was released in 2007. His forthcoming book on Save the Children will be published in 2010 |
