This one-day symposia, led by sleep specialists at The Hospital for Sick Children and from the USA, will provide comprehensive insight into sleep disorders in children who are healthy, as well as, children with underlying co-morbidity. This will include, specifically, how to undertake a clinical assessment and subsequent management of sleep disorders in children. Some of the sleep disorders covered include: sleep disordered breathing, obstructive sleep apnea, central sleep apnea, and obesity hypoventilation. Additionally, the symposia will focus on the evaluation of children with parasomnias and behavioural problems secondary to sleep concerns. The registrants will be familiarized with the link between current paediatric sleep research and its translation into clinical paediatric practice.
The symposia will include interactive sessions with workshops directed at epidemiology, diagnosis, pathophysiology and management of paediatric sleep disorders.
Target Audience: General paediatricians, paediatric and adult sleep physicians, respirologists, family medicine physicians, nurse practitioners, respiratory therapists and any other professionals with an interest in paediatric sleep medicine.
