Understanding and treating neurodevelopment disorders

Neurodevelopmental disorders are complicated by a lack of clear and distinct aetiologies, causing us to question our diagnostic constructs. As a result of our collaborative work, we created the Province of Ontario Neurodevelopmental Disorders (POND) network, which recruits children and adolescents with neurodevelopmental disorders and creates a rich database of phenotypes and genotypes. This project is clearly made possible by the wide range of skills and expertise available at SickKids, Holland Bloorview, and throughout southern Ontario, where cooperation makes the total much greater than the sum of its parts.
