How the Body Works

How the Body Works, formerly Child Physiology, is an interactive atlas of child anatomy and physiology created by medical illustrators at AboutKidsHealth, in collaboration with health care professionals at The Hospital for Sick Children.

How the Body Works was originally created to help clinicians explain the normal anatomy and physiology of complex organ systems to families with sick children. Since its debut on the Web, educators have adopted it to teach students at all levels, from high school to postgraduate courses. It is also used extensively by families.

With its detailed and beautiful illustrations and animations, How the Body Works is a valuable resource for anyone with an interest in the inner workings of the human body. Eight modules are currently available on AboutKidsHealth.ca, with more in development.
