Sharing Makes Us Better
The PEM POCUS Program at SickKids is committed to improving the emergent care of ill and injured children everywhere through the use of point-of-care ultrasound technology. Through the open source distribution of educational materials we hope to promote quality in training and practice across the globe.
Join us by sharing your open source materials & links - contact Kelly Sobie firstname.lastname@example.org to get started.

The PEM POCUS program at SickKids is a shining example of the spirit of Free Open Access Medical Education (FOAMed). This philosophy enables global access to high-quality educational materials, and promotes the distribution of a fundamental knowledge base with tremendous potential to positively impact the lives of our patients. In the same spirit, I’d like to share two free open access resources for point-of-care ultrasound education. Below are two sites I maintain and regularly update with free lectures, important links to additional resources, and tips and tricks for improving your point-of-care ultrasound skills. I hope you enjoy them, and welcome any comments or suggestions to continue to improve the quality and utility of these sites. Also, feel free to follow me on Twitter for real-time ultrasound education updates at http://www.twitter.com/bedsidesono

At Partners In Health, we agree with the PEM EUS program at SickKids, sharing makes us better. This website demonstrates this community's sensitivity to the global need for accessible, up-to-date medical training material to improve care of the world's most vulnerable paediatric populations. Access to open source materials helps build capacity world-wide and empowers clinicians in under-resourced settings to continually hone and improve their skills. To commence this ongoing effort to build a body of open source materials in PEM EUS, we introduce here the Partners In Health Manual of Ultrasound for Resource Limited Settings, a self-e-published, freely downloadable, 400+ page textbook with color images and illustrations written for novice ultrasound users to use as a guide for learning point-of-care ultrasound techniques. The book was written in simple English, with the primary audience of developing world health care providers with access to portable ultrasound. This guide covers a wide variety of applications of bedside ultrasound, with many portions applicable to paediatric clinical concerns including trauma, paediatric volume assessment, bedside echo, and abdominal ultrasound.
