Welcome to Perioperative Services at SickKids!
The Hospital for Sick Children (SickKids) is the largest children’s hospital in Canada. Toronto is highly diverse and one of the world’s most multicultural cities, serving a catchment area of over five million.
Perioperative Services focuses on the integration of clinical care, teaching, and research and supports the mission and goals of SickKids. Perioperative Services is comprised of six departments - Surgery, Anesthesia and Pain Medicine, Critical Care Medicine, Dentistry, Ophthalmology and Vision Sciences, Otolaryngology - Head and Neck Surgery - all involved in and committed to ensuring that children have the best possible experiences and outcomes in their surgical journey. Perioperative Services is a somewhat unique clustering of services that encompasses all components of a child’s surgical journey. These diverse backgrounds allow us to work in a coordinated and a collegial manner that is special, even among children's hospitals that are well-known to be positive and cooperative health-care institutions.
Staff provide national and international leadership in highly complex and innovative clinical care. The staff lead world class research groups engaged in basic, clinical and health outcomes research. Perioperative Services is involved in undergraduate and postgraduate education hosting fellows from across the world. View our who we are page for more about our team.
At SickKids, our vision is Healthier Children. A Better World.
