Consultation-Liaison (CL) Psychiatry Program
The Consultation-Liaison (CL) Psychiatry Program, is a multi-disciplinary team providing inpatient and outpatient care to children ages 0-18 years old with medical and mental health conditions. The CL Program provides psychiatric assessment, treatment, and team and program-based consultations. Collaborative care is emphasized through education and support of interdisciplinary teams within the hospital, and community children’s mental health providers.
When inpatients at SickKids, children are referred by the medical and surgical teams of the hospital. Outpatients referrals are accepted from subspecialists, pediatricians, and family physicians. Consultation is also available to other hospitals and children’s mental health centres through Telemedicine and TeleLink.
The CL Psychiatry Program is one of the founding members of the Medical Psychiatry Alliance; a collaborative partnership between The Centre for Addiction and Mental Health, The Hospital for Sick Children, Trillium Health Partners and the University of Toronto.
