Urgent Care Clinic
The Urgent Care Clinic (UCC) provides assessment and consultation for children and youth with emergent or urgent mental health needs as well as crisis stabilization treatment.
Assessments and treatment is provided by a team of staff psychiatrists, nurse practitioners and social workers. Brief crisis stabilization treatment is provided through the clinic with up to eight appointments over a six week period. If required, recommendations to other internal and external programs will be provided through the clinic.
Although treatment is accessible, our intent is to help patients transition successfully back to their home community with the support of their family physician, pediatrician or mental health agency for ongoing care.
The UCC is accessed through the SickKids emergency room, SickKids clinics, and identified community partners. This is a physician-based referral program. Physicians can contact MHAP for more information.
If you have immediate concerns about your child’s mental health please go to your closest emergency medical service.
