More SickKids Olympic news

By Heather Irwin

Looking for something to do on Saturday, Feb. 27? Check out the men’s parallel giant slalom as Richard Evanoff, son of Kimberley Evanoff, Staff Nurse in Emergency Medicine at The Hospital for Sick Children (SickKids), carves his way down Cypress Mountain with the Olympic forerunning team.

Evanoff, 18, is one of four up-and-coming Canadian snowboarders invited to attend the games in this role. As a forerunner, he is responsible for riding the course before the athletes compete to test the conditions, timekeeping systems and camera angles for broadcast.

He has travelled the world competing and in January, completed his first World Cup race in Stoneham, Quebec alongside Canadian Olympic competitors.

In addition to this race, Evanoff made a star appearance in a recent Air Canada commercial to promote the Vancouver games.

Next, he'll be working toward the 2014 games in Sochi, Russia. GO Richie GO!
