The Residency Program in Medical Genetics at the University of Toronto is a five-year program accredited by the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada (RCPSC). This includes two years of basic clinical training in paediatrics, internal medicine and obstetrics and gynaecology, followed by genetics training. The latter includes exposure to laboratory specialties (molecular genetics, biochemical and cytogenetics), clinical genetics (adult, paediatric, cancer, prenatal and speciality genetics clinics), clinical biochemical genetics, and protected research time.
