Starbucks Clinical Genetics Research Studentship Award 2012
The Division of Clinical and Metabolic Genetics at The Hospital for Sick Children is offering an annual summer student award. This award has been made possible by the Starbucks Coffee Company Endowment Fund and will enable a student to participate in a clinical genetics research project for a 12-week term.
At the time of application, students must be in 1st, 2nd, 3rd or 4th year of an undergraduate degree program. Students in medical school may also apply. The stipend is $4,800 (based on an hourly rate of $11.43 for a 35-hour week) for the 12-week program.
The application must include:
- letter outlining your past relevant experience
- objectives and how this experience might ultimately support your future goals
- CV
- university level transcripts
- two letters of reference
Applications should be submitted to Khadine Wiltshire, Research Administrator, at khadine.wiltshire@sickkids.ca, no later than Monday February 13, 2012 by midnight. Members of the Genetic Metabolic Diseases Program have completed a pilot transition education program for young people with inborn errors of metabolism and their parents.
The More on My Own Clinic - staffed by a nurse, social worker and dietitian - ran over the course of year with one half -day sessions a month. The Research Team is presently examining recommendations for future transition initiatives.
