Dr. Anne Dipchand completed her paediatric and paediatric cardiology training at The Hospital for Sick Children (SickKids). She then did subspecialty echocardiography training at SickKids and heart transplantation in Denver, Colorado. She has been on staff at SickKids since 1999. Dipchand’s career has focused on the care of children with end-stage heart failure, paediatric heart transplantation, and patients post-Fontan palliation.

Research

Dipchand’s academic and research activity has focused on issues relevant to the clinical care of heart transplant and end-stage heart failure populations – most specifically morbidity and mortality-related risk factor assessments. Her strength from a research perspective evolved to focus on large registry-based studies. She has been very successful in leadership positions in the two major paediatric heart transplant-related databases, both of which are international: the Pediatric Heart Transplant Study and the International Society of Heart and Lung Transplantation Registry.

Dr. Dipchand’s research activities can be divided into the following topics:

• Antibodies in pediatric heart transplantation
• Outcomes post-listing and post-heart transplantation
• Transplant cardiac allograft vasculopathy
• Long-term Fontan follow up and Fontan failure
