Adolescent Medicine: SPaRC (Sexual health Promotion and Resource Clinic) Referral Criteria

Condition

The Sexual Health Promotion and Resource Clinic (SPARC) is for youth facing multiple adversities who require a low-barrier approach to having their sexual health needs met. 

Who can refer

Hospital and community healthcare providers and organizations

Patient acceptance

Under 18 years of age

Clinical criteria

  • Unmet sexual health needs requiring confidential care 
  • Complex psychosocial circumstances 
  • Facing barriers within the healthcare system leading to unmet sexual health needs 
 

Rejection criteria

  • ​18 years of age or older
  • Under the care of gynecology for acute management

Notes

Sexual needs that can be addressed:
  • Contraception 
  • Pregnancy planning 
  • Options counselling and referrals for pregnancy  
  • STI screening/testing 
  • STI treatment 
  • Sexual health education

Required supporting documentation
