Adolescent Medicine: SPaRC (Sexual health Promotion and Resource Clinic) Referral Criteria

Condition

The Sexual Health Promotion and Resource Clinic (SPARC) is for youth facing multiple adversities who require a low-barrier approach to having their sexual health needs met. 

Who can refer

Hospital and community healthcare providers and organizations

Patient acceptance

Under 18 years of age

Clinical criteria

Unmet sexual health needs requiring confidential care
Complex psychosocial circumstances
Facing barriers within the healthcare system leading to unmet sexual health needs

Rejection criteria

18 years of age or older
Under the care of gynecology for acute management

Notes

Sexual needs that can be addressed:

Contraception
Pregnancy planning
Options counselling and referrals for pregnancy
STI screening/testing
STI treatment
Sexual health education

Required supporting documentation
