Adolescent Medicine: SPaRC (Sexual health Promotion and Resource Clinic) Referral Criteria
Condition
The Sexual Health Promotion and Resource Clinic (SPARC) is for youth facing multiple adversities who require a low-barrier approach to having their sexual health needs met.
Who can refer
Hospital and community healthcare providers and organizations
Patient acceptance
Under 18 years of age
Clinical criteria
- Unmet sexual health needs requiring confidential care
- Complex psychosocial circumstances
- Facing barriers within the healthcare system leading to unmet sexual health needs
Rejection criteria
- 18 years of age or older
- Under the care of gynecology for acute management
Notes
Sexual needs that can be addressed:
- Contraception
- Pregnancy planning
- Options counselling and referrals for pregnancy
- STI screening/testing
- STI treatment
- Sexual health education
Required supporting documentation
