Dermatology Referral Criteria
Who can refer
Physicians, Nurse Practitioners.
Patient age
Must be under the age of 16.5 for any non-urgent referral.
Patient acceptance
Children with complex dermatological conditions that require tertiary level care.
Rejection criteria
We do not accept referrals for the following conditions, if the child has no other health concerns:
- Acne (non-cystic, mild)
- Chronic urticaria, please send your referral to Allergy/Immunology
- Eczema (mild)
- Genital warts in patients 16 years old and above, please send your referral to Gynecology
- Liver Hemangioma (with no skin lesions), please send your referral to GI/Hepatology
- Hyper/hypo-hidrosis
- Kawasaki, please send your referral to Rheumatology and Cardiology
- Keratosis pilaris (KP)
- Keloids
- Lymphedema (known) or for compressions, please send your referral to Plastics lymphedema
- Mollusca/molluscum
- Mole checks, small nevi (<1.5cm)
- Morphea in patients 17 years old and above, please send your referral to Mount Sinai Hospital’s Morphea Clinic (by Rheumatology and Dermatology)
- Warts (except genital) for any patient, including immunocompromised patients
