Food Immunotherapy (FIT) Referral Criteria
Who can refer
Allergist
Patient acceptance
6 years of age and under
Clinical criteria
The FIT clinic accepts referrals for children 6 years and under with a confirmed food allergy to one or more of the following: peanuts, tree nuts, egg, milk, wheat, soy, and/or sesame. Other food allergies may be considered. The referral must come from an allergist to provide a comprehensive allergy history, skin testing and blood test results.
Rejection criteria
- Incomplete investigations
- Referral not from an allergist
- Children 7 years of age and older
Required supporting documentation
- Recent specific IgEs (done in the last 6 months)
- Recent skin prick testing results (done in the last 6 months)
- Most recent consult note, including the history of reaction, for the food in question
