Biography

Dr. Lennox Huang is the Chief Medical Officer and Vice President for Education, Medical & Academic Affairs at the Hospital for Sick Children. He is a staff physician in the Pediatric Critical Care Unit at SickKids, Professor in the Department of Pediatrics at the University of Toronto, and Associate Clinical Professor of Pediatrics at McMaster University. Dr. Huang is a past Chair of the Department of Pediatrics at McMaster University, and past Chief of Pediatrics for Hamilton Health Sciences and St. Joseph’s Healthcare Hamilton. During Dr. Huang’s tenure, the McMaster Department of Pediatrics increased their faculty by over 60%, created a new division of emergency medicine, a Child-Life Masters program and more than doubled their fellowship trainees. Dr. Huang has led both regional and national safety programs such as the Toronto Academic Health Sciences Network Escalation of Care efforts and the National Pediatric Patient Safety Curriculum. During the COVID-19 pandemic Dr. Huang co-led the regional physician response across the greater Toronto Area and served as the executive sponsor of the Toronto Youth COVID-19 Vaccination effort. Lennox’s academic work spans the fields of healthcare simulation, quality and safety and wellness. In addition to being an award-winning educator, he has special interests in applying healthcare simulation in the testing and design of spaces and processes. He has served as the principal knowledge user and co-investigator on CIHR funded research related to diabetes, transition, burnout and healthcare simulation.  Dr. Huang currently co-chairs the board of directors for the Global Network for Simulation in Healthcare and is a faculty member of Health Care Systems Simulation International and the Academy Archive.
