About the Clinic
The mission of the Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome (EDS) Clinic is to support patients and families living with EDS by providing timely diagnosis, coordination of medical care, education and expertise in the treatment and management of EDS.
Pre-appointment Instructions
What to bring:
- A t-shirt and shorts for your child to wear during their physical examination. If you would prefer, a hospital gown can be provided.
Important pre-appointment instructions:
Prior to your in-person appointment in the EDS clinic, you will be scheduled for a virtual pre-clinic visit. During this pre-clinic visit, the registered nurse will complete a medical and family history, as well as provide information about what to expect for your in-person appointment in the EDS clinic.
Directions:
The EDS Clinic is located on the 4th floor of the Black Family Wing. Take the Main Floor elevators in front of the Shoppers Drug Mart to the 4th floor. Once on the 4th floor, follow the signs to the EDS Clinic.
What to Expect During Your Visit
Please be prepared to be in the EDS clinic for two to three hours. Your child will be seen by a physician and/or a nurse practitioner, as well as other members of the multi-disciplinary team as needed. In addition to reviewing your child’s family and medical history, we will perform a general physical exam. On occasion, your child may require blood tests or imaging (X-ray, ultrasound, etc.) to be performed. In some cases, we may recommend that parents also have blood tests so they should bring their OHIP card or other proof of health insurance coverage to the appointment as well.
