Background and clinical significance

Screen and confirmation for a wide variety of individual drugs by LC-MS/MS (Liquid chromatography - Mass spectrometry/ Mass spectrometry). Currently there are over 400 drugs in the Broad Spectrum Drug Library (Parent & Metabolites)

Includes many of the drug classes normally done by immunoassay: Amphetamine/Methamphetamine, Cocaine metabolite, Ecstasy, Methadone/Methadone metabolite, Opiates, Oxycodone, PCP, Tricyclics. (Note: Cannabinoid metabolites and Barbiturates are not included in this test and must be ordered separately).

Reported as "Detected" based on a minimum concentration of drug being present in the serum to allow for proper identification of the drug by matching the MS (Mass spectrometry) spectra of the unknown compound to the Mass Spectrometry Spectra in the library. Phone the Toxicology Laboratory at 416-813-5906, to check on the availability of any specific drug if not listed here.
