Research Ethics Board

In April 2016, the Hospital for Sick Children premiered its electronic filing system, the eREB. This system makes the creation, approval, and retrieval of study files vastly easier for the study teams, and cuts the amount of paper used by the Research Ethics Office to almost zero.

Frequently asked questions

I am an external collaborator. Can I access the eREB?
No. Only SickKids staff are able to use this system. Please contact your SickKids study team members if you require information about the study.

Can I access the eREB when I'm away from the hospital?
Yes. One of the great things about the eREB is that study team members can access their study documents from anywhere in the world, so long as they have an internet connection and VPN encryption software installed. To obtain VPN, please contact the help desk.

I'm in the hospital, but I can't access the eREB. Why is this?
If you are a SickKids staff member you should be able to access the eREB from anywhere in the hospital. If you can't, there are a couple of reasons why this might be:

  1. You are not connected to the internet, or you are connected via wifi other than Kidzone.
  2. The eREB is down for maintenance.

For any questions related to the eREB, contact ask.crs@sickkids.ca.
