Re-useable Orthopaedic Devices Recycling (ROAR) Program

Patients requiring crutches for an injury are eligible to receive crutches at no cost from our emergency department if they are available and return them when finished using them to the orthopaedic clinic. This project aims to reduce cost to families as well as environmental waste. Participation in this project is completely voluntary and will not affect patient care.

If you wish to donate your crutches to the program, please bring your gently used, functional crutches to the orthopaedic fracture clinic as detailed on the map below between the hours of 8:00 a.m.- 3:00 pm Monday to Friday.

The Fracture Clinic is located within the Orthopaedic Clinic on the Main Floor of the Hill Wing (Gerrard Street), near Tim Hortons. Clinic registration is through the hallway between the Hill Wing elevators.

If you are using the underground parking, please take the elevator to the Main Floor. Entrance to the Orthopedic Clinic is through automated double doors next to Starbucks: Go through these doors, follow the signs and footprints down the hallway to the clinic.

If you are part of the ROAR project and have feedback about it, please fill out our patient feedback survey.

Thank you for your partnership in reducing waste, increasing equitable access to healthcare resources, and achieving our shared vision of Healthier Children. A Better World.
