Method and equipment

The DNPH test uses the 2,4-dinitrophenylhydrazine reagent with which alpha-keto acids and a variety of carbonyl compounds will react and form relatively insoluble crystalling hydrazones (a positive reaction).

  • Store at 4oC. Keep cool during transport.
Special requirements

Unacceptable Specimens: Any sample from a patient who has received a radio opaque dye in previous 24 hours, Arginine Tolerance Test and urine contaminated with stool.
