Biography

Dr. Amy Zipursky is a paediatric emergency medicine physician and Associate Scientist–Track Investigator at SickKids. Her work focuses on the application of artificial intelligence, machine learning, and clinical informatics in the emergency department.

She is actively engaged in clinical teaching and serves as a mentor in the IDEAS program, supporting the development of trainees in research and innovation. Dr. Zipursky also contributes to institutional and national informatics committees, helping to advance the integration of digital technologies into clinical care. Dr. Zipursky completed her paediatric residency and paediatric emergency medicine fellowship at SickKids and the University of Toronto. She holds a Master of Biomedical Informatics from Harvard Medical School and completed a postdoctoral fellowship in the Computational Health Informatics Program at Boston Children’s Hospital.

Research

Dr. Zipursky’s research focuses on leveraging artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning (ML) to improve the quality and efficiency of paediatric emergency department (ED) care. She integrates expertise in biomedical data and AI/ML model development with implementation science to support the integration of these models into clinical workflows. Her work includes the use of large language models in the ED and the development of ML models to assist with image interpretation.
