About the Clinic

The mission of the Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome (EDS) Clinic is to support patients and families living with EDS by providing timely diagnosis, coordination of medical care, education and expertise in the treatment and management of EDS.

Pre-appointment Instructions

What to bring:

  • A t-shirt and shorts for your child to wear during their physical examination. If you would prefer, a hospital gown can be provided.

Important pre-appointment instructions:

You will be contacted prior to your first clinic appointment and asked to complete a family history questionnaire in preparation for your visit.

Directions:

The EDS Clinic is located on the 7th floor of the Black Family Wing. Take the Main Floor elevators in front of the Shoppers Drug Mart to the 7th floor. Once on the 7th floor, follow the signs to the EDS Clinic.

What to Expect During Your Visit

Please be prepared to be in the EDS clinic for two to three hours. Your child will be seen by a physician and/or a nurse practitioner, as well as other members of the multi-disciplinary team as needed. In addition to reviewing your child’s family and medical history, we will perform a general physical exam. On occasion, your child may require blood tests or imaging (X-ray, ultrasound, etc.) to be performed. In some cases, we may recommend that parents also have blood tests so they should bring their OHIP card or other proof of health insurance coverage to the appointment as well.
