Twin daughter receives life-saving transplant from dad: both recovering

On Tuesday, Feb. 10, 2015, the transplant teams at SickKids and Toronto General Hospital, University Health Network collaborated on a successful father-daughter liver transplant.

On Tuesday, Feb. 10, 2015, the transplant teams at The Hospital for Sick Children (SickKids) and Toronto General Hospital, University Health Network collaborated on a successful father-daughter liver transplant. Michael Wagner donated a portion of his liver to three-year-old Phuoc, one of his twin daughters with Alagille syndrome. The donation surgery was performed at Toronto General Hospital and the transplant surgery took place at SickKids. The two surgeries took a total of 13 hours.

Michael is recovering at Toronto General Hospital and is currently in good condition. Phuoc is recovering at SickKids and is in fair condition. The other twin daughter, Binh, is still waiting for a liver. Learn more about patient condition report definitions.
