SickKids research students share their passion for global child health on International Youth Day

Summary:

Research students at SickKids Centre for Global Child Health discuss their research and how they hope to contribute to a brighter tomorrow through advancing global child health.

Young people are essential partners in creating positive change around the world. On this day twenty years ago, the United Nations (UN) General Assembly designated International Youth Day (August 12) as an annual celebration of the role of young women and men in shaping the world for a better tomorrow, and as an opportunity to shed light on unique challenges facing the world’s youth.

Research students at the SickKids Centre for Global Child Health are passionate about advancing knowledge to improve children’s health in low- and middle-income countries. This summer, they have been exploring health challenges faced by young women, children and adolescents living in resource-constrained settings through their placements at the Centre. Working with leading global experts and research teams, the students have focused on a range of topics from severe acute malnutrition to infant wheeze, investigating the global burden, potential interventions and public health solutions.
