SickKids ranks No. 1 in researcher and hospital intensity among Canada's Top 40 Research Hospitals

Summary:

SickKids is proud to be recognized as one of Canada's Top 40 Research Hospitals for the tenth consecutive year. This year, SickKids holds the number one spot for both researcher intensity and hospital intensity.

The Hospital for Sick Children (SickKids) is proud to be recognized by Research Infosource as one of Canada's Top 40 Research Hospitals for the tenth consecutive year. This year, SickKids holds the number one spot for both researcher intensity and hospital intensity among all hospitals on the list.

SickKids is once again in the number two position among Canada's leading research hospitals for 2020, second only to University Health Network – a multi-site organization. SickKids has ranked first in hospital intensity (research spending as a percentage of total hospital spending) for the past five years and has topped the list three times for researcher intensity (research spending per researcher). In 2020, SickKids research spending increased by three per cent compared to 2019.

“We are thrilled to be recognized as one of the top research hospitals in Canada, and to rank number one for researcher and hospital intensity this year,” says Dr. Gabrielle Boulianne, Chief of Research (Acting).

“Despite the challenges of 2020, our research teams continue to lead exciting new advances and discoveries and this ranking reflects that incredible work. SickKids remains a leader on the front lines of child health research, with innovations and unique approaches that will transform the health of children around the world.”
