Dr. Peter Szatmari joins the prestigious Royal Society of Canada
Summary:
Dr. Peter Szatmari was named a Fellow of the Royal Society of Canada in recognition of his contributions to child and youth mental health and to the understanding of Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) in areas such as diagnosis, measurement and genetics.
SickKids’ Dr. Peter Szatmari has been named Fellow of the prestigious Royal Society of Canada (RSC).
The RSC recognizes individuals for their outstanding scholarly, scientific and/or artistic achievement in their fields. Recognition by the RSC is the highest honour an individual can achieve in the Arts, Social Sciences and Sciences.
In 2013, Dr. Szatmari assumed the combined position of Psychiatrist-in-Chief at SickKids and Chief, Child and Youth Mental Health Collaborative at the Centre for Addiction and Mental Health, as well as Director of the Division of Child and Youth Mental Health at the University of Toronto. He also holds the Patsy and Jamie Anderson Chair in Child and Youth Mental Health.
Dr. Szatmari is recognized for his significant contributions to the understanding of Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) in many areas including diagnosis, measurement, genetics and longitudinal development. He has also made significant contributions to research in child and youth mental health more generally. He was one of 89 new Fellows named to the Academies of Arts and Humanities, Social Sciences, and Science, nominated and elected by RSC peers.
