Dr. Zulfiqar Bhutta awarded esteemed Nils Rosén von Rosenstein Medal

The Swedish Paediatric Association and the Swedish Society of Medicine have jointly awarded Dr. Zulfiqar Bhutta, Co-Director at the SickKids Centre for Global Child Health, with the Nils Rosén von Rosenstein Medal today at Uppsala University in Sweden. The esteemed award recognizes Bhutta’s outstanding contributions within the field of global child health worldwide.
"It is a tremendous honour to receive the Nils Rosén von Rosenstein Medal," says Bhutta, a Senior Scientist in the Child Health Evaluative Sciences program. "This recognition, like many others, underscores the fact that paediatricians across the world hold common values in protecting children and working to optimize child health and development. My colleagues and I are deeply grateful for the opportunity to share insights and engage with colleagues at Uppsala University."
The Nils Rosén von Rosenstein Medal, named after the distinguished physician and scientist who championed children's health in the 18th century, celebrates the outstanding achievements of paediatricians every five years.
Bhutta, who completed his doctoral studies in Sweden at the Karolinska Institute, has made significant contributions to the field of paediatric medicine. His work, spanning decades, has focused on addressing critical issues impacting children's health globally. From pioneering nutrition research to advocating for improved healthcare access in underserved communities, Bhutta has left a lasting mark on global child health.
